High Tea - Cornish Style

Today we headed off to Cornwall in the South West of England for a taste of something new... and taste something new we did.  We arrived a little after 1pm to find the entrance all done up for a party in honour of the Royal wedding between Prince William and Catherine.  We were invited to join other caravanner's for a High Tea celebration between 3 and 5pm.  We hadn't experienced an English High Tea yet and thoroughly enjoyed it.

After we set up camp we headed up to join the others for lovely English sandwiches and a glass of Pimms, followed by Scones with jam and cream (Cornish Style).  Delicious!  We toasted the happy Royal couple and enjoyed the company of other like minded people.  How civilized!

After letting our hair down we headed back to the van for a coffee (to wake up from the Pimms) and a very relaxing first evening in Cornwal.

On tomorrow's agenda:  Land's End ... and somewhere, a taste of traditional 'Cornish Pasties'... maybe even Cornish Ice cream.  I almost feel like Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love) when she was in Rome tasting all the amazing foods there ... very soul lifting experience!  Cheers!

It would appear that Halloween is a rather large event here in the UK. Apparently it has only been so large in the last few years... boy, has it taken off then! Having come from the land of Oz, where Halloween is still trying to take off, seeing the festivities that are available here is really amazing. Dog friendly hiking

Having a fur child in the family can make adventures limited at times.  We love to get out and about but are often then faced with the guilt of leaving our beloved fur child behind.  Today we decided to head out to somewhere pet friendly .... and scratch that itch for a hike with the whole family. Our venue today:  Moggill Conservation Park.  This conservation park can be found 22km west of central Brisbane, on Chalcot Rd (off Mt Crosby Rd) in Anstead.  Parking is available in a designated parking lot.  Popular activities at the conservation park include walking (our chosen activity for the day), horse riding and bike riding.  We even saw a rather keen bunch of 4x4 drivers taking to the track at one stage.  Sturdy shoes are advised and dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash.  Perfect for us! ‘In the Flesh’

This morning we got up nice and early and set off towards Kent. Our long-term friend Nicole and her Mum have arrived in England for a wedding. Determined to catch up while they are here, we wasted no time making plans to meet up. Having driven to Kent so many times to go across to France now it didn’t seem to take the 2 hours we know it did to get there. Once we got into the area Nic and Colleen were staying in we were met with the now-familiar sight of narrow country lanes, surrounded by fruit trees, green grass, bales of hay and an absolute sense of magic. What a gorgeous place! The sensation of seeing one of our contacts from home was a little overwhelming. There was definitely some tight embracing... and some tears too. To make the most out of our limited time together we decided to go for a visit to near-by ‘Leeds Castle’. Brilliant choice! The castle is surrounded by the most amazing gardens.
